HOME > about us --- Shibuya Evangelical Church!

Welcome!
We believe that God's church is for those who know God and for those who are seeking to learn about God's forgiveness through his son Jesus. It's purpose is to experience the joy that comes from the following His plan for our lives and the peace that comes from accepting his promise of an everlasting life in Heaven. The church is for those who are seeking to have a personal relationship with Him to fellowship together, to encourage one another, to learn about, and to worship the one true God. Church is not a place, but rather a group of people with like faiths - as we say, the "body" (family) of Christ. Our church has 3 different services.

Tokyo Evangelical
The morning service at 10:30 is in Japanese, and is translated simultaneously into English. The attendance is mostly Japanese people, though several foreigners dot the audience, and the message is generally for the purpose of teaching, building, and challenging (Pv. 27:17) the faith of Christians. Non-believers are always welcome. In fact, visitors are often pleasantly surprised at how openly they are welcomed and accepted by regular attenders. (Pv. 16:24)

Korean Service
The afternoon service at 1:00 is in Korean and is translated simultaneously into Japanese. Though predominantly attended by Korean Christains, non-Koreans and non-Christians are regularly welcomed with open arms. Visitors are quickly greeted with a smile and a welcome, no matter what their faith and background. (Pv. 15:13)

Shibuya Harvest
The evening service at 6:00 is given by a guest speaker, whose message is either given in Japanese or English, and then translated into the other. God's love spans border and culture, and this can be seen in the evening service with members from Japan, Korea, China, America, Finland, Germany, Jamaca, Nigeria, and more. The worship is lively, and the message is outreach focused (good for non-believers), teaching the basic principles about our faith as Christians.
